Jack Karnes graduated from Springdale High School in 1996 and was awarded the Dwight Collins Memorial Golf Scholarship by Springdale Country Club in Springdale, Arkansas. He went on to accept a golf scholarship at the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama, where he earned a place on the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team with a 3.81 GPA in the College of Business. He was also a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Jack's two years at UNA left a lasting impression on his teammates, classmates, and friends. His time with us came to an untimely end on September 20, 1998, but his influence and impact continue to be felt today.

In 1999, the UNA Alumni Association Homecoming Golf Tournament was renamed the Jack Karnes Memorial Golf Tournament in his honor. For years, proceeds supported the Fifth Year Scholarship Program, which gives student-athletes whose eligibility has expired the chance to finish their degrees.

Today, tournament proceeds benefit the Graduating Champions Fund, which directs support to the athletics department's greatest needs. While the tournament's purpose has broadened, its heart remains the same: honoring Jack's memory and the influence he continues to have on the UNA community.
