FLORENCE, AL – Military and Veterans’ Affairs at the University of Ӱֱ Alabama is hosting a number of events this week that will culminate with a Rucks for Recognition 5K Ruck March on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 7:30 – 10 a.m.

“Our goal with the week of events that are taking place this week and as our nation turns its attention to Veterans’ Day on the 11th is to share that the Office of Military and Veterans’ Affairs is open and serving our student-veterans as part of our mission to provide support and resources during their academic journey,” said Jimmy Roberts, program coordinator and organizer of the week’s events.

In addition to the Veterans’ Day program set for Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Memorial Amphitheater, the week includes a push-up competition and a rock wall at the Memorial Amphitheater. The week will conclude with the Rucks for Recognition 5K Ruck March.

“Everyone is invited to attend,” Roberts said. “For the veterans who are unable to ruck up and march, they are invited to come and watch. We are encouraging anyone who would like to participate to ruck up in honor of a particular veteran to show how much they appreciate them and their service. People can bring a back pack or ruck sack, but it’s not necessary in order to participate.”
