The Office of Media and Public Relations at the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama has launched a Speakers鈥� Bureau of faculty experts, representing a wide array of areas of expertise across a variety of fields, in order to share the breadth and depth of knowledge housed in each of UNA鈥檚 four academic colleges.

In the 10 years since Light the Fountain was initiated as a spring-time tradition on the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama campus, much has changed. The Fountain itself, an iconic and beloved part of Harrison Plaza, has even been rebuilt after its collapse in December of 2019. What has not changed, however, is the excitement and vibrant atmosphere that has come to characterize Alabama鈥檚 Best College Block Party庐 that鈥檚 also known as Light the Fountain.

Dr. Michael Pretes, a Geoscience Professor at the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama, has been elected an American Association of Geographers (AAG) Fellow, one of the highest distinctions in the field recognizing scholars 鈥渨ho have made significant contributions to advancing geography.鈥�

The University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama Department of Visual Arts and Design is celebrating the creative legacy and works of Florence native and UNA Alumna Catherine Goode Moeller at the UNA Art Gallery through the month of February. The exhibit, A Life of Soulful Pursuit, consists of Moeller's lifetime works in a selection of drawings, paintings, and sculptures on loan from her family and collectors. These works highlight her ability to capture life's beauty and her interests in the classical figurative tradition.

More than $6 million is headed to the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama thanks to the efforts of the congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. Spearheaded by Sen. Katie Britt, $5 million has been allocated to the Joel R. Anderson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies and $1.024 for the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions as part of the Congressionally Directed Spending grants.

Lights & Shadows, the student literary magazine at the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama, has been recognized as 鈥淪uperior鈥� by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) as part of the Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Contest.

Dr. Martin Hebel, a Lecturer in the Department of Music at the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama has been awarded two American Prizes for his recent composition, Defiance.

Scholarship support from endowed scholarships awarded through the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama Foundation are on the rise after an outstanding year of fundraising for FY 2024-2025. The total spent from the UNA Foundation endowment for the year that ended Sept. 30, 2025, was $2.245 million.

The University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama Police Department is the proud owner of two electronic bikes, or e-bikes, thanks to the generosity of several donors. The Spinning Spoke in downtown Florence and the Parke Cochran Insurance Agency provided the majority of the funding, along with a few anonymous donors, to make the e-bikes possible.
